Western Union money transfer is an electronic funds transfer service that enables people send & receive money from over 250 countries and Western Union Agent locations around the World and receive them in over 300 Access Bank branches nation-wide.

Western Union and Access Bank have developed an exciting new service called Account Based Money Transfer (ABMT) which allows customer to receive funds directly into their Access Bank account via the Bank’s Internet banking platform.

Requirements for Receiving Payments

  • The Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN)
  • Expected Amount
  • Acceptable means of identification
  • The receiver’s name, address and phone numbers
  • Sender’s name and country (city to be included for transfers coming from the US and Mexico)
  • Test Question and Answer where applicable.

Requirements for Sending Payments

  • Sender’s name, Phone number, address
  • The receiver’s name and country
  • Amount in Naira
  • Verified BVN
  • Sender must have a Access Bank account or be identified by an account holder
  • Test Question and Answer where applicable
  • A maximum send limit of 1,000USD Naira equivalent per customer per quarter, as stipulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Eligibility

This service is available to both account holders and walk-in-customers who are above 18 years.

Acceptable Means of Identification

  • Nigerian International Passport/Foreign Passport
  • Driver’s License
  • Permanent Voters card 
  • National Identity Card
  • Verified BVN

Pick-up Cash in US Dollars

Customers and non-customers can pick-up cash in US Dollars at any of our branches or have deposited directly into their domiciliary account upon receipt of foreign currency.

To pick up cash at any of our branches, the customer must carry any of the below valid means of identification:

  1. BVN
  2. Nigerian Driver’s License
  3. International Passport
  4. Permanent Voter’s Card
  5. NIMC ID card
