Access The Stars: The Journey So Far

Access Bank Journey

Access The Stars was unquestionably one of the biggest television events of the year (argue with your keyboards if you must). Just by its name, you can almost deduce who the sponsors were. That’s right, the show was the brainchild of Access Bank Plc and Star Lager Beer. Remember some time ago, when a certain man that shall not be named, called the Nigerian youths lazy? Well, these two brands couldn’t sleep on it. So, they began searching for that one thing that will help change the narrative and position the Nigerian youths in a good light. Alas! Music is the connection. Hence, the birth of Access The Stars TV show, a platform meant to mine, refine and launch some Nigerian music talents to stardom. The TV show was a cocoon of excitement and musical bliss, right from the audition stage to the grand finale. Grab your popcorn as we take you through the journey to stardom.

The journey began with auditions from six locations- Abuja, Lagos, Abeokuta, Owerri, Onitsha and Calabar. As with every music audition, there were those who came because they could actually sing and those who, well, just wanted to try their luck. Of course, when a whopping sum of N150 million worth of prizes which includes a managerial contract and a brand new car is involved, who wouldn’t want to challenge their limits. There were those whose singing made you feel like an angel kissed your ears, those who could have made even a statue burst out laughing and those that made you wish you could yank them off the screen. Anyways, as the chaff is sifted from the wheat, so were they! We move…

Next was the concert where those who made it through the regional finals and through the auditions with the celebrity judges showcased that they were not only good at singing but could also entertain and carry a crowd along. The celebrity judges were TEE- Y Mix, Kaffy, Sheyi Shay and it was hosted by Dare art Alade and co-hosted by Olive Emordi. Permit us to render some accolades to these ones as they did a fantastic job. Olive Emordi, on the other hand, was a babe throughout the show. Her playfulness, dress sense and enthusiasm just kept you hooked to your TV screen. She truly brought the extra zing.

Back to the concert, there were also performances from A-list artists like- Zlatan, Korede Bello, Tiwa Savage, Mr real, Timaya and the likes. It was at this concert that the top twelve finalists were selected for the semi-finals and one more contestant from the online competition making thirteen contestants in all who were shipped off to boot camp where they received musical lessons from seasoned musical professionals, Miss Ige and Mr Ben. The Bootcamp was to be a preparation for the semi-final and final showdown.

We’ll temporarily screech to a stop right here. if you want to get the full gist on who finally took home the crown, turn on your post notifications and don’t forget to subscribe to get the latest updates. Ciao!
